>>>>>>>> IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION <<<<<<<<<
In this file you will find installation instructions as well as information
on additional features added most recently that are not reflected in the
documentation.
PLEASE NOTE: That upon registration/purchase of EZ-Menu, you are granted
a license to use ONE copy of the software on ONE machine. Contact PCS or
your local EZ-Menu dealer for information on purchasing additional copies
for other PCs. This product here is only a Shareware/demo program and NOT
a legitimate license - you are allowed to use EZ-Menu for a period not to
exceed 30 days, after which you should register, or delete the software.
For Additional Information, Consult the following files:
WHATSNEW.DOC A list of the latest features in EZ-Menu \ contained in

ABOUT THE SHAREWARE RELEASE
===========================
This version of EZ-Menu is a special Shareware release, which can be freely
redistributed provided it is not modified in any way (and is in its original
-AV .ZIP file form from PCS). If you receive a copy of EZ-Menu from a BBS
or information service, please make sure that when you un-ZIP it, it says:
".. Authentic Files Verified.. xxxx Progressive Computer Services..." This
will insure that you have a package that has not been tampered with in any
way.
The Shareware version is almost fully-operational. There is a little title
page that pops up when EZ-Menu is initially run - this is NOT in the
commercial version. The title page does not impose a mandatory delay - you
can press any key and make it disappear immediately. If will disappear on
its own after 60 seconds - as a result, you can use the timed-execution
feature in EZ-Menu in an automated manner without any problems whatsoever!
There are also just a few minor configuration options which cannot be
modified in the Shareware version - but all-in-all, the program is complete
and more than suitable for extensive testing to see if it meets your needs.
Please be aware that we rely on YOU to register your software so that we
can continue to provide valuable products according to the Shareware
concept.
This Shareware version incorporates features from the single-user EZ-Menu
6.0 commercial release, as well as the EZ-Menu LAN Enhanced product which
is designed to run on a network (and be shared by all users). This version
can also be installed into a LAN environment for testing. We did this so
that we didn't have to release a separate LAN demo of EZ-Menu, and with a
single program, you can test EZ-Menu for whatever environment you're running.
There is an additional manual available called EZLAN.DOC which contains LAN-
specific installation & setup instructions - if this file is not in your
archive, it can be obtained by calling our BBS at (504) 835-0085.
There are some configuration options in the Shareware version which you will
not find in EZ-Menu 6.0 such as the "LAN Type" setting - which is a feature
from the EZ-Menu LAN program. If you like EZ-Menu, be advised that there are
separate versions for both single-users and network installations. Consult
the file CATALOG.DOC for complete information as well as data on site
licenses and other options.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (FROM A ZIP ARCHIVE - SHAREWARE/DEMO)
===============================================================
If you received EZ-Menu as a file: EZMENU38.EXE, it is a self-extracting
archive - to un-ZIP this archive simply run EZMENU38 from the DOS prompt
(make sure you're in a private/temporary subdirectory before doing so).
To install EZ-Menu from a .ZIP archive, we recommend that you format a
blank floppy and use it as your "master disk" - simply un-zip the archive
contents to a floppy and run the INSTALL program.
You can also create a "dummy" subdirectory, un-ZIP the archive to that
subdirectory and run INSTALL.
NOTE: EZ-Menu's INSTALL procedure _MUST_ be run
in order to properly setup the program. You should not un-ZIP
the file into an \EZMENU subdirectory and try to run the program
- this will not work properly.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (FROM FLOPPY DISK):
=============================================
EZ-Menu now has an integrated INSTALL/UPDATE utility. The INSTALL.EXE
program will automatically detect an existing version of EZ-Menu
installed on your machine and allow you to only upgrade the system
files (if desired) - keeping your old menu structure intact.
Installation Instructions:
1. Put the EZ-MENU disk in your floppy drive
2. Type A:INSTALL and press ENTER from DOS
If your floppy drive is not A:, then substitute the appropriate
drive letter.
3. The INSTALL program will take over and tell you everything you need
to do for installation - this basically amounts to simply pressing
a key from time to time while the program tells you what it is
doing. No thinking necessary...
If you want EZ-Menu installed in another subdirectory other than \EZMENU,
consult the documentation on doing so (the INSTALL procedure
will put EZ-Menu automatically in the \EZMENU subdirectory).
ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS:
=======================
See the CHANGES.DOC file after EZ-Menu has been installed.
Once again, thanks very much for your patronage. I sincerely hope you enjoy
the software, and please let me know if you have any comments or criticisms.
In any case, please write and let me know what you think...
Mike Perry
